Camry Door Lights......

I've got two questions..........

1) Anyone ever installed door lights on an LE? I thought it might provide a better of degree of light at night and give the car a more upscale look. I'm thinking it might be pretty messy work.

2) Do XLE models come with door lights?

No, the Gen4 and 5 don't come with any lights on the doors.

I've successfuly installed lights onto my '05 - not very difficult. It works essentially the same way your dome light works (that is, if you don't have the gradual fading dome lights). you just need to find a (+) source (i.e. battery) and you can use the door ajar switch as the ground. The door ajar switch/button on your door is pressed in when you close them and is pushed out out when you open your door again. Each time the switch comes out, it makes contact with the metal part of your car, thus creating a circuit - light comes on. Wire a light to each door, each light can be connected to the respective door ajar switch.

I bought side marker lights, drilled holes in the door trim, and just wired them up.

I saw those on ebay but once the door is closed, they cannot be seen anymore. I want something that looks nice but is also very functional. I guess I want it to be like the dome light. It comes on when the door is open but can be turned on any other time as well and can be seen. I think that interior entry lighting is one weakness of the Gen 5.

i think he means CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent light). any online computer "modification" store will have it.
