Told them to use 10W30 - they used 5W30

I have a 93 Camry XLE with 156,000 miles. It runs great. I have been using 10W30 (regular, not synthetic) as the oil cap says and changing religiously every 3 months. When I dropped off the car yesterday for an oil change, I told them to use 10W30. Despite my instructions and despite that the engine oil cap says 10W30, they put in 5W30. I am in Connecticut, and the majority of my miles are highway miles. Is this enough of a concern that I should have the oil changed, or can I wait another 3 months?

It's fine. It won't harm anything this one time, not enough of a difference. Your car can also use 5W30, but recommends it for lower temps is the only diff.

That's why I do my own oil changes, plus you can look around for leaks and such while you're underneath.

How do you know that they used 5w30?

10w30 has less VII (viscosity index improvers) and therefore less likely to shear to a 20 weight.

I use 10w30 in my 01 le 4cyl Camry with no problems yet, Its at 108000 and have used the 10w30 in the car since around 30000 when we got it. I just think 5w30 is a little thin. I know the cap say 5W30 but the owners manual say 10W30 is ok for warmer temps.
