3rd Generation Too much fuel injection cleaner?

Hello,

I have add Gumout Fuel Injection Cleaner to my car every 3,000 as what the instructions have told me. I have been doing this for 3 oil changes now. One day, I added the fuel injection cleaner into my tank and drove normally. The next week, my friend who needed to use my car for a day went to fill up my gas tank since it was low. He decided to treat my car by adding the same fuel injection cleaner in. Since the fuel injection cleaner stated to add only every 3,000 miles, will this hurt my vehicle?

probably not. Since you ran out most of the cleaner the first time.

I wouldnt worry about it - this is only 12 or 16 oz of chemical going into an 18 gallon fuel tank. You probably wouldnt want to make a habit of it, especially with some ultra-powerful cleaner additives such as Chevron Techroline - but just this once, it's probably no big deal.

Do those cleaners really even do anything? I thought the add packs from the gas companies already have chemicals in there to clean the fuel system.
