Salvage Title - Transferring to Regular

I'm interested in purchasing a farely new and nice '04 Camry that has a salvage title. It's been involved in an accident on the rear passenger-side door and that was replaced and it was given a professional paint job. If the car runs nice when I go to test drive, is it worth picking up with the salvage title, or am I getting into something I'm going to regret?

Is there anyway I can buy this and then somehow get the salvage title removed and get a regular title for it so it will keep its value? I had heard if you purchase it somewhere, move to another state, get the title in that new state that you can get the salvage title removed. Is this true, or does the salvage stay on forever?

States vary but I think since it's already branded it'll remain that way. Besides, what would you do, move all over the country to get 2-3K in value back?

If the price is right it wouldn't be bad if it was repaired correctly. There are a lot of salvage vehicles out there. If you go to sell it expect to sit on it for a while unless you price it very agressive. Salvage title also pretty much eliminates trading the car in, you'll likely have to sell it yourself.

I haven't done it myself but in the past I've known people who took the car(s) to a state which doesn't do salvage titles. They have a resident 'buy' the car, title it and then 'buy' it back and retitle it in another state. Seems like a lot of trouble for one car. Arkansas and Missouri were two states I believe they used.

I know for a fact Missouri brands titles(that is where I'm at), my last Harley was a salvage title.
