10% Ethanal

Is there any effect, if any, on using gas with 10% Ethanal mix? Any personal experience would be great...

Gas with 10% ethanol is just fine. The ethanol is there to act as an octane booster in place of MTBE, which the Fed has required to be phased out due to possible links with cancer.

At high concentrations, ethanol will likely destroy the rubber components in your fuel system, so don't start running E85.

I live in the Chicago area where "oxygenated fuels" are required due to the polution levels in the area. I am pretty sure this is the same in most large metropolitan areas. They achieve this by adding 10% ethanol to the gasoline. To my knowledge, all gasoline in the metropolitan Chicago area contains 10% ethanol. You shouldn't notice any drivability problems or power problems. You might notice a 2%-4% decrease in fuel mileage, since ethanol doesn't release as much energy as gasoline when it is burned.

ive used it before, but i found out that, even though it gives abit more power, it wasn't giving much mileages. and i thought Ethanol suppose to be cheaper, but in my case i have to pay $1.40aud per litre (this was 1yr ago)

I've used 10% ethanol for years in all my cars. It's great in sub zero climates and it's good on emission systems. Apparently mileage is less. I have numerous performance 2 strokes and I avoid using ethanol in them however.

I put an ethanol blend (10% at 95 Octane) in my Magna the other day, and I got almost 300km off half a tank which is an extra 70-100km then what I usually get, mind you there was a fair amount Freeway driving and it was over a long distance and the Magna usually just drives locally and never for more then 3-10km at a time. I don't really think it affected my car that much, If at all. I'm by no means advocating Ethanol it's just cheaper
