^Why would he get flamed? Its a legitimate question. The tC and Gen 5 4cyl have the same engines. Don't post if you don't have anything productive to offer.

supdawg240, TRD will tell you that it won't fit. However, I was able to look at the stock motor for the tC and the Camry, and I compared the two, and then I looked at the s/c'd tC engine in person and up close, and I don't see any reason why you would have any fitment issues or any of that kind of thing. The Camry has the same or more clearance for s/c parts, and as far as mounting points for the s/c, they're exactly the same. However, the issues that you will run into will be with the ECU. The tC ECU is different than the Camry ECU, and from what I've heard, it IS possible to flash the stock Camry ECU to make it think that it's a tC, but once you do it, there's no going back. Also, one way or the other, you will be needing to get some sort of piggyback ECU.

the ECUs are indeed different, since the tC's 2AZ-FE setup utilizes a different transmission- U151 instead of the camry's U-150 (i think it's the U series, but i forgot). but yeah, the tC's transmission is geared differently and uses slightly different ECU curves and whatnot.

and i think there are fitment issues indeed, with something about a transmission dipstick- but those can be relocated.

I wouldn't worry about the ecu- the obdII will deal with any a/f issues, and if you've got a 5spd, then no prob

with an auto, just treat the tranny gently without the ebc

my camry is a 5speed
thank for the help. i just order scion tc trd s/c for my camry and inatalling it at home. i run it for a week with out the reflash. is it safe on the engine? will the ecu make the engine detonation or preignition? i have the map that came with the kit and my guess will the map work on the camry ecu? i heard that when the ecu is reflash there no goin back and you have to buy a new ecu. also where can i get my ecu tune.

GReddy just came out with a turbo kit for the tC. So why don't you look into that? There's some adjustments that needs to be done but hey, it's worth a shot. Oh one more thing. The tC 0-60 is about 7.8 seconds. A GReddy tC goes 5 seconds. Food for thought.

^ They just released the complete turbocharge kit. Includes the following: GReddy TD05H-18G Turbo, pressurizing the tCs 144 cubic inch I-4 cylinder with 8.5 psi boost, stainless steel turbo manifold, front-mounted intercooler, Airinx air intake, custom aluminum inlet piping, all the hoses and clamps as well, a Greddy ECU. You'll need to purchase the 440cc high flow fuel injectors seperately for $795. THey also toss in a cat-back exhaust.

The system gives you an additional 100 hp so a total of 260hp. Total cost for the kit is $3595

Then with this kit the TC is faster than a 2007 V6 camry? because if it only has 8 less hp and its lighter than it must be faster?

very interesting... s/c camry vs. v6 camry. i think it would be close with the 1mz-fe, but i have no idea with the SE's 3mz-fe...

anywaiz, there's also the issue of cooling the air with water injection, intake, exhaust (which helps the most), and other x-factors...

good luck to all of you with the camry 2AZ-FZE projects.

no, it won't cause it's designed for a I-4. Your's a V6 which is a bigger block and bigger engine. Is your a Gen 5 or a Gen 5.5 because a SEV6 is a different V6 then a LE and XLE V6 which is a 1mz, which in part TRD makes a S/C for the 1MZ.
