Well its official....i finally found out what my outrageously loud knocking was in the motor......the bearing on the 3rd piston completely disintegrated, causing metal shavings in the oil.....plus the timing of the piston rotation was out of line .....so in conclusion im gonna spend a couple hundred to get it all fixed and trade her in and get a 03 3.5L maxima
i had to......it may not be the prettiest ride on earth but power wise for a "family" car its a monster.....Plus i think this looks pretty good how bout you?????

Why do you want to trade her? Is it because you feel like it could blow out any moment?
I have some pinging too especially in the morning. Was your car pinging all the time? How much miles?

well crazy thing is it came outta the blue.....it wasnt a constant problem....and it was more of a knockin noise.......so i parked it for the weekend until i could get it to the shop monday mornin.....mondy mornin all hell broke loose....the knock was so much louder and faster.......i lost power......i would puch the gas but only get half the power....but you could hear the motor workin hard as hell.....and also to note......my far left valve and far right valve had oil caked up in it......but anyway......yea sry fellow toyo guys its time to move on....not cuz im scared its just that i luv the camry but deep down inside all camry owners want more power.....so i figure this is a good time to get it........also to answer main menu....it had 87,350 miles
1997 3.0 liter Maxima auto
2000 3.0 VIAS Maxima 5 speed
2002 3.5L Maxima 6 speed
I love the Max as you can tell and my 6 speed was a ROCKET. Definately take your time and find a 6 speed, you will NOT regret it. Besides, like every other automatic transmission car these days people bitch and complain about the Nissan trannies as well.
only problem is....i neva owned a stick....my friend taught how to drive one.....and he has a 06 impreza....i dont kno much bout manual cars, but that car was fairly easy to learn on.....so im scared of gettin a manual and hatin it....also i was just gon get the auto and get the shift points refined to have better and more crisp shifts....i forget the name of the mod
Well, autos are harder you push them the more trouble you'll have later on. Get a manual and learn to drive it, you'll love it.
I was concerned I wouldn't enjoy driving my 5-spd camry around town with all the 4-way stops but now I don't even think about driving it anymore. When I need to go, i just ... go.
On the downside, my emotions transfer to my driving a lot more effectively. if i'm pissed off and I let it get to my driving, i burn all the way through 1st and 2nd at certain stop signs.
Yeah it's fun ... but not good for the car. Anyway that 6-speed maxima is definitely worth a look.

I wish I had a manual sometimes, but when I borrow my friend's manual eagle summit, I'm pissed cause I can't eat my McDonalds meal at the same time!!! I'm so torn between, I still don't know if my next car will be manual or auto

I've never had trouble eating a sandwich, driving, and answering the phone at the same time in my 99 S10 w/ 5-speed, lol...
But I sure do worry anyone who rides with me. heh.
And don't worry, I do all that in rare circumstances. I'd rather be the one able to concentrate on one thing at a time, giving me enough time to watch out for all those around me, who are talking on their phones and trying to eat bowls of chilli while driving.

Yeah I can do a few things while driving my 5-spd but I tend not to. Not like I cant, i just don't like to.
Then when you see someone in a lifted F-350 with Mud Terrains and they're trying to talk on a phone, re-arrange thier hair and eat a bowl of chili (with tortilla chips), it kind of worries ya ... Seeing as they don't seem to care at all about driving.
