The new Camry is too much fun to drive!

I really managed to surprise myself tonight...

Hmm...here's the story. My dad's in town for the week and of course he has a company car, a Camry- Pretty basic- LE I4, spoiler, alloys, leather, wood trim package, thats it. So I made the excuse that I was going to go down the street to let out the neighbor's dogs, since I knew that my dad's car was last in line in the driveway (we have company over), I'd have to take his. SO I wen't out and started it up, reversed and went through the neighborhood. There is a section on my neighborhood where all the main roads come out onto a big main drag that's 100% straight. So I am coming to where my street meets the main road and I come the corner, stop the car completely, then stomp on the gas and start turning the corner. I was completely astonished at what happened next. The tail of the car slid out very nicely behind the car, the front wheels started to screech, the Revvs hit 5K or so and then it took off. This was WAY too much fun. So I pretty much did it for the past 10-15 minutes, and what's even more fun is coming from the main drag into a corner and flooring it, the back comes out a little too far and you have to oversteer to correct it and you're already going like 50MPH. SO much fun! I thought there was some sort of myth about FWD cars not being able to fishtail? I'm also sticking to my claim that the 4 cylinder in the Camry is one of the best ever built. I love how the power comes on strong at the bottom of the powerband and is solid all the way to 5K+ rpms. It's also so smooth and pleasing to revv...I love it.

glad you had fun, man...

just make sure you play it safe......and remember one thing tho....if the company car is under your dad's name, you're most likely not insured.....if you do something stupid, you're fucked but good....

Thank you very much for the welcome. We're looking at getting a New Camry sometime soon to replace our '98 4cyl LE. Most likely a Black or Grey SE V-6 with the Camry special edition package they're beginning to offer here- Lip kit, 18" rims, stainless steel muffler. I really like the new car a lot. It's a pleasing blend of economy, performance, luxury, and quality at a reasonable pricetag. The Altima is too hardcore for my tastes and the Accord is trying to be all things to all people. Camry all the way!
