Gen5 Hard to see the JBL System's LED display

I have the premium JBL (6CD changer) sound system on my 05 XLE. From time to time when I'm driving along I glance at the LED display and notice that it is too dim to read. The problem may be glare, but I'm also wondering if there's something wrong and it is dimming on its own. I've only had this car for 3 weeks (and love it!), but is this normal? Does it happen to others? Is there anyway to adjust or fix it? Thanks!

By any chance are you wearing polarized glasses while driving? Or are you noticing a light level drop? If you are wearing the glasses that could be the problem.

You may be right! I think I may've had on polarized sunglasses. I'll experiment with that. That's not good either, though, since I usually wear shades on a sunny day. I don't suppose there is anyway to adjust that LCD readout in anyway, is there? Before you mentioned that, it just seemed like the readout was fine at first and then had really poor, unreadable contrast.

I'll bet that's it. Try tilting your head all the way over, like you're leaning over. If your glasses are good the display will dissapear and reappear. Same thing happened to me with my Revos...

Well i tried the sunglasses, and you were right. The polarizing totally neutralizes the contrast of the JBL's display, making it near impossible to read. I feel a bit foolish for thinking that the LCD had actually dimmed on me. Though I still want to know if there is any way to adjust the diplay.

to my knowledge there is no pratical and easy way to adjust the brightness of the radio. if you have some soldering skills, you may try replacing the LEDs in the radio, but again... this can be difficult and time consuming and is hardly adjustable.

polarized sunglasses will make LCD/LED displays appear differently. dark spots and swirl marks and all that good stuff.

That also means you've got some good glasses...
