4th Generation Blower motor-No 1,2

Morning; I've got a 99, V6. I just noticed that the heat/ac blower motor has stopped working in the 1st and 2nd positions. Is this an easy fix and what needs to be fixed, repaired, replaced or in general what should I look for or do to cure this problem........Thanks, Frank

Boy, I haven't been here for a while and this new layout is nice. I checked the offered similar threads, which were very helpful and would guess I've got a resistor failer. Looking for a little confirmation, please.......Thanks, Frank

Almost certainly it is the blower resistor.

You are most likely correct. It is most likely the blower motor resistor. This is a common problem. It can also be the fan switch itself, but this is rare. To be certain, locate the fan motor and follow the wires back to find the blower resistor. It is usually in the fan motor housing area itself, since the blower helps keep the resister cool to lenghten it's life. Now put the fan switch on 1 or 2 and back-probe the resister with a 12 volt test light. If you have 12 volts there, and I'm almost certain you will, then the switch is fine and the resistor is bad. I believe the resistor is a dealer only part.

Just an update.........

Fixed! Imagine that, only one trip to the dealer for parts and the repair is done. Toyota could have tried a better location for the resistor as both the phillips screws were in a pain of a location but alls well that ends well. It took about a 1/2 hour and now I've got all 4 blower speeds back. Thanks again for the direction.........Frank
