I have no experience with this seller. On-line parts can be a cheaper source of parts. The Toyota dealer will usually only sell Genuine Toyota parts that meet Toyota Original Manufacturing Specifications (OEM). These parts are usually branded with the Toyota name and/or in Toyota packaging. Dealer parts usually cost more, but not always, then parts from outside sources such as an auto parts house. This is also true for many other items such as appliances, entertainment equipment, etc. The price of a part from the original manufacture can easily be twice that from a third party source. Some times this third party part is the same as the original manufacture. It can be relabeled, renumbered or not.
There are many parts manufactures making parts to fit a Toyota that are just as good the Toyota part. Toyota makes cars and someone else makes a good portion of the parts going into the car. The manufacture may sell the same part elsewhere but relabeled, etc.
This being said, you would need to find out whom the part manufacture is and if this part meets Toyota OEM standards. Often the manufacture of the part will state this on the label. As to oil filters, opinions on who makes the best filter vary. Some people only use Toyota brand filters, others like some other brand. Engine oil almost always has statements about what test criteria it meets. I don’t know these criteria off hand. There are certain industry standards the oil must meet to in order for the manufacture to make these statements. Unfortunately oil filters and many other car parts don’t have standards, although many will state they meet or exceed OEM standards. These days I usually take this statement in stride.
I would stick to name brand parts for now. Often a web search will turn up the positive and negatives of a certain web seller or part manufacture. Read the sellers fine print about returning parts, etc. A decent seller will always take back a defective or wrong part. Some charge a restocking fee if you decide you don’t want the part, others don’t. Always pay by credit card, as this can be your last recourse if the sale turns out to be bad. Remember to, there are counterfeit parts out there. TN has posts on web sellers, but I think they are all in the US.
