Well I cant believe it but tommorrow will be my first new car purchase is a 2007 White Camry V6 XLE with Nav., Smart Key, lip spoiler, stability, heated seat. After i test drove one about a month ago, I am sold. There were plenty of low end torque and the ride was a smoooth as butta. I am 27 and I cant believe i am buying a Camry. I was thinking about getting a 545i, but the damn sport suspension was so firm and ride so choppy. I really really wanted to get a GS430 but I have to wait another 6 months for finance reason (i am impatient to wait). Perhaps in a year I will get my fiance 04 Honda Accord and trade it in for the GS. She can take over the Camry by then. Anyway, I am planning on to put Xenon lights, upgrade the wheels to 17 and dropped the car with eibachs OR get 18 wheels and buy the SE bodykit. Just want to share my thoughts later gangs!
Just wondering, did you take a look at the IS350 before picking the Camry? What made you pick the XLE over the SE? The SE comes standard with 17" wheels, the lip kit (really expensive to get from Toyota), and a sports tuned suspension that still rides smooth as the XLE.
Actually the XLE rides much smoother than the SE. The SE has less body roll when turning. On the other hand you wont feel the road bumps as much in the XLE.
I test drove the SE and XLE back-to-back.
I went with the SE cos I liked the interior and three-spoke steering among other things.
It depends on your personal preference and how much you are willing to spend.
I guess it's just me then. I test driven it both and the ride difference wasn't that much noticeably different. A major factor for me in picking the SE was the lip kit. From past experience, it's really hard and expensive to get a factory kit from Toyota. You can wait for a member to sell theirs, but then you have to compete against many who's also wanting the same thing. Besides, I'm sure not many SE owners are going to sell their lip kits.
Well there are several reasons why i picked the XLE over the SE. 1. I want a smooth comfortable ride (coming from a Acuar CL-S: good but not smooth enough and transmission crapped out 5x), with complete isoation. 2. I like the Push Button starter in which the se does not have. 3. The Nav is only 1200 vs. 2000 on the se. 4. Rear reclining seats for the guess and sunshade. 5. The XLE just seem to offer more for the money. The IS 350 is not to my taste because its small, cramp, and the over aggressive suspension.
I drove the XLE when I was looking at the '07 Camry and yes it is softly sprung. It's a Touring car not a sporting one. It has it's place just like the SE has.
I am looking at getting the same car. Can you tell me what the price was that you paid so I can have something to shoot for when I go to the dealer? Thanks
I paid 31,500 drived out. With Nav, Smart key, heated seat, spoiler, floor mat, stability control, sound sealant package.
Damn, that's expensive. I don't know anyone on here yet that has paid more than 29-30K for their Camry yet. I got a fully loaded SE V6 with everything except navi for $26,400... no offense but I think you got taken. Just my $.02
