4th Generation I've seen the light! (I just can't get it off)

Hi guys,

I've been looking around your forum for a while, seeing what's up, as I've been given a 1998 camry by my brother-in-law (Not a bad present eh?!).
You guys seem to be the de facto source of all things Camry!

The car is originally British, but has spent 3 years over in Spain. Whilst it was there, they fitted the left hand drive lights to it.
Aside for the huge problem of trying to get registration documents out of the Spainish authorities, I'm also having difficulties getting the headlights out!

I have removed the 2 screws on top, taken out the corner light, and had a good look for anything else holding it in place. The only thing I can see that is preventing it coming out is the headlight dipping motor.
I've searched this forum and googled a bit, but can't find any advice on this - not even the sticky for the repair manual could help!

Has anyone got any suggestions, before I get really annoyed and end up crow-barring them out!

Other than this, the car is in pretty good shape! Looking forward to driving it eventually(when the Spanish move their ass!)

The other piece of advise I wanted is where do people put their amps in this thing? The ridiculous surround that is behind the back seats stops you attaching it there! I'm not too keen to stick it under the front seats, as my friends have big and clumsy feet!

Look forward to talking with you guys!

Nick

My comment about 'left hand drive' isn't really relevant, but as I'm sure you know, the states and most of europe drive on the right side of the road (and sit on the left side of the car) and so the light beam slopes down to the left, whereas in Britain, we drive on the left (wrong side of the road!) and so the light slopes down to the right!

The headlights are the same dimensions - just different lens patterns.

Any pics??

I did have to remove a bolt behind the turn signal lamp housing that holds the headlight bracket to the frame of the car (10mm)
