i ordered a HID kit from Misterjung. it is a Hella 6000k with D2S bulb. I heard that hella make ballast for philips, so i guess they are the same or even identical. bulb is from korea but still good brand.
I want to know how to make cutoff line for a reflector base headlamp.
cuz i don't want to blind the oncominig driver. I know(i read the reviews) how to make cutoff line for projectile lite, but not reflector base lamp.
actually, how long will it take misterjung to ship to canada? do u know? already 5 days and still counting...
I bought my HID kit from him last summer, it took about 2 weeks to receive the kit from him ... btw, I live in Toronto, Canada
there are a few sites that teach people how to aim the headlamp.
I will try to find them for you. It might be a good idea to buy an extended warranty from him, my HID bulbs went bad after 5 months, but he promised me that he will replace them for me with no charge..
hey ray. let me know how u do it.. b/c i own a gen 4 also 98 LE and i also got a hella hid kit w/ d2s bulbs.. mine when i put em in TALK ABOUT GLARE. the beam goes all over its funny. when ur in a tunnel u see everyhing including the bald guys shiny head whos in fron of u. lol.. but ne ways k.i.t.. via aim or email.
Hey tubby, I guess you finally get a hold of Alan? I checked the warranty and our kit is covered for 18 months so he should send you a replacement bulbs or ballast if that's what defective. Anyway I been looking for ways of reducing the glare myself but it been so cold this year so couldn't get to it. It finally warm up now so I'll start looking at different alternative. Here're couple
sites that has usefull info about HID.
D2R bulbs were designed with cutoff in mind. The different between D2Rs and D2S is that the D2R has part of it blocked out on the bottom, this way when it reflects in the headlight, the bottom doesn't lgith up and there for dosen't reflect light upwards. If you look at the acuras that take d2rs, you'll notice that when on, the bottom of the headlamp is unlit. This gives a cutoff. If you can't do that, open up the headligth and put something under the bulb to block out the light underneath it. This will block a lot of the light from reflecting upwards.

yup, i've been noticing the Acura TL's bottom headlight is unlite.
oh, i ordered a D2S kit 6000k from Alan.
it is so difficult for me to aim the headlight. My garage doesn't have 8 meters long.(cuz i need 25ft) i don't know anywhere close to my house or anywhere that is less people that i can do the aiming alone. Of course i can go to the parking lot and aim but many people will look at me thinking i am a car theft.
cuz i need to open the hood and not only that i need to take out the housings.
Alan, i've sent him emails(many), but he didn't reply, no tracking number and he just like "gone". My paypal money is through and since then, i just couldn't contact him. Is it common for him to reply emails that slow? I am so frustrated.
Hey T2000,
yeah, I finally got a hold of him last week, but I haven't heard from him since then. I don't remember him being so slow in replying people's e-mails before. And this is why I haven't sent him the defective items (2 bulbs + 1 ballast). I am thinking about doing a projector retrofit into the headlight housing to reduce the glare if possible. We will see what happens..

For your H4 it's quite difficult to get a good aim without too much glare because your housing accomodate for high and low beam in one so whatever light come out it will hit both the low and high reflector, you would need a good shield for this one or make one up. I'm not sure whether the 97-99 come with a shield infront of the bulb or not like the 00-01, but do check the sites I posted, those people are really into HID retro and they know what they're doing. Good luck.

Yeah projector is a good idea, like the one the guys from this forum are trying to do using the Hella 90m. The draw back for this is you would have to give up your 9006 HID you have now, maybe you can use it in the high beam but we got DRL so not sure how it would turn out. I'm going to go to the junk yard and see if they have any head light housing I can buy first and see how to put a projector in. It'll be the project for this summer
