The package came with the car even though it wasn't one of the things I asked for. Does anyone know how this thing work? Does it actually help reduce noise? If so, by alittle? By alot?

did you ask the dealer? please do 'cause i would rather listen to music than loud road noise. so far i've only knowns two things are can really reduce noise. one is the acoustic windshield that only hybrids have. i'm REALLY REALLY dissapointed that toyota didn't put that on an xle. the other is under coating, which helps protect the car from rust while reducing road noise.

The Vehicle Shield Package comes with rubberized undercoating and (here at least) also includes paint sealant. I've been in cars that have it and the same car without; there's a noticeable difference in road noise, especially at highway speeds.

The Vehicle Shield Package comes with rubberized undercoating and (here at least) also includes paint sealant. I've been in cars that have it and the same car without; there's a noticeable difference in road noise, especially at highway speeds.
Dealer package which is a high profit maker.
The undercoating may have some upside if applied properly but the paint sealant is a nothing better than anything you can buy and apply.

I haven't heard or seen anything on toyota's site about an "acoustic windshield"on a Hybrid..
Toyota wouldn't put an noise reducing winshield in only one model of car unless that car really needed it. the hybrid model must be noisy inside without it.
07 camry xle does have the acoustic windshield ??????not only the hybrid^^^
The only Camry with the acoustic noise reducing windshield is the Hybrid. This is according to Toyota's website. It's standard on the Hybrid and is not offered as an option for the other models. It's the same with the Avalon. The Limited has the acoustic noise reducing windshield and the other models don't.

I saw it in the catalog, as jjthenovice said, it only comes in the hibrid, that's weird...wouldn't Toyota make all cars as quiet as possible??? well....
I specifically wanted the Sound Shield package also. I heard that they include a layer of rubber shield coating around the wheel walls to reduce noise. There is a paint protectant bottle that was in my glove box that said to apply it every six months. Dont know if i use that or not because i have Klass AIO and Zaino bros.
