3rd Generation coolant temperature switch question

I need to change a bad coolant temperature switch (radiator fan switch) located at the bottom of the radiator on my 94 toyota camry. Do I need to first drain the coolant in order to replace this switch? Thanks for the help!

Nah! Its an easy one. Put drain pan under sensor. Unhook the electrical leads to somewhere they'll be dry. Unscrew the sensor in question, screw the new one in your wet hands. (BTW did i say put some anti seize on the threads first? he he.) Screw new one in. Tigthen moderately, less is more, if it leaks later you can tighten it a 1/4 turn. Replace connector. Pour in some water coolant into the radiator to the amount you feel fell out. Done deal.

some will leak out as stated above. however, if you are near changing your coolant anyhow, drain it. if not, just do the ol' switcheroo
