3rd Generation 2nd Battery Installation

Is there a way to add a 2nd battery to my '95 V6 Camry and use the 2nd battery as an accessory battery? I have an audio system that uses a great deal of power and I would like a separate battery to power it. What equipments or kits will I need to connect the 2nd battery in and will my alternator charge two batteries at the same time? I plan to put the 2nd battery in my trunk...

I believe that if you just have a high perfromace battery such as optima, u only need to upgrade your alternator. just a thought.

They do this in boats a lot (engine battery & house battery). You can buy a battery selector switch from a marine store. The alternator wire is run to the starter post. A battery wire is run from the starter post to the switch. The switch may be set to 1, Both, 2, or Off. In positions 1 or 2 the selected battery is connected to the alternator and charged. In Both position both are being charged. In off position neither battery is connected to the car. This way you can run your accessories off of the "house" battery and if it is totally drained you can switch to the engine battery to start the car. When running you can leave both batteries selected to keep them charged up. Just don't turn the selector switch to off when the alternator is turning,

There are electrical methods to monitor which battery should be selected and charged but those are past my scope. If you are interested check out the marine store.

larger alternator and get a capacitor so the bass hits don't affect your other electrical components.

does anyone know where i can get my hands on an alternator with a higher output for my '95 V6 Camry? Right now, I have the Denso 80 amp and I need a larger amp. Are there any stores or websites selling them?

I'm not sure if they fit but I know that Denso makes aftermarket alternators. You might want to try looking into that. Just do a search for denso alternators and you'll come up with tons of websites.
