oil gel problems covers what years?

Best I can tell the gelling problem is for the V-6 and 4 cylinder from 1996 - present. Is this correct? I'm looking to buy a used Camry and want to avoid the noid.

I believe it covers all generation 4 Camry engines, both I4's and V6's. That would be model years 97-2001.

By gel you must mean sludge, the famous sludging issue Camrys have had. It's an easy issue to spot on any used Camry.

When you find a serious prospect car and are pretty sure you want to buy it, just remove a valve cover and look. If the owner knows you have money in hand waiting and this is the final condition, he'll agree to it!
