Hey people, I have a 2007 Camry CE. I was told the car have tire pressure sensors. Now this is new to me. I wanna get some 18 inch rims. Will I have to buy new ones or could I use the same sensors I have now. How much does it cost to do something like this? If its too expensive I may just swap the factory rims for some chrome rims.
These sensors are going to be a real PITA! You should reuse your old sensors on the new wheels, but you must make sure the sensors fit the new wheels. The sensors do not fit all styles of wheels. New sensors are in the neighbor of $150 each and then they must be individually programmed to the sensor computer by a Toyota dealer. Each sensor has a number on a sticker that must be input into the computer. See what I mean about about the PITA?

As the old saying goes--if its not one thing its another! Do you or anyone else have or know what kind of rims to look for or where to purchase? other than the dealership.
I took off my stock 16"s (I have an LE) that had the sensors and put on SE 17's w/out sensors (regular valves) and I have no warning lights? Crazy Right Toyota Service told me the ECM can't sense what you don't have. So I didn't have to tear down my 16's to swap the valve sensors. I saved $$$$. I'm keeping the 16's for winter. Just make sure your spare doesn't have a sensor or you will have the fault light come on, I know because I tried to put one of the 16" as a spare and the light came on. So the trick is don't use any of the tires that have the sensors on them. Good Luck

That doesn't make sense, if the ecm doesn't recognize all 5 sensors then the light will come on. It should recognize the spare even if its in the trunk. If this is an 07 then it should have the direct system unlike the 06 that uses the speed sensors

I believe only the full size wheels have the sensors. Therefore, if you have a donut and you replaced all 4 wheels w/out the sensors, then the ECM has nothing to sense (and the warning light does not come on).
As a test, bassetbob put a full size wheel as a spare, and the light came on again. Makes sense to me.
Just let me repeat. I have an 07 LE that had 16" stock steel wheels with TPMS sensors on all but the donut. I bought a set of SE 17"that were already mounted with tires without the sensors. I thought I'd have to take down the 16's to transfer the sensors onto the new 17's. Just to test I put the new 17's on the car without the sensors and to my surprise no fault light came on?. I quickly went to my toyota service guy to question why the light didn't come on, they told me that the computer can't sense what it doesn't have, so since I keep track of my own tire pressure I'm leaving the sensors off until I replace the 16's at winter time. Just for the hell of it I put one of those 16" with the sensor in the trunk and the light came on, The donut doesn't have a sensor, so the donut stays. I know it's had to believe but it's true, no sensors no light.

So basically Bassetbob if I put 18's on without the sensors, my light shouldnt come on?
I found out that light will come on after 1 hour of continuous driving. If you stop the car before 1 hour then it will stay off for another hour. Once it is on, it will only shut off after it get signal from all sensors. (in garage or nearby)
I saw this fix in another forum and haven't tried it so YMMV but it sounds like it should work. Seems he wanted to switch to snow tires, and didn't want to go through the hassle of swapping out and re-programming the modules every year.
What the guy did was to get a piece 12" long 3" diameter PVC pipe and some matching end caps from Home Depot. Then he drilled and tapped a hole for a threaded valve stem in one of the end caps. He put the TPMS modules in the tube, sealed up the ends with the end caps, and filled the PCV pipe to 35 psi. Put the tube with the sensors in the trunk and the computer was happy, and he could put whatever tires he wanted on the car and not have to worry about the TPMS.
