TRD Short Shifter for the 97 gen4 Camry should bolt right in to the gen3. I just ordered one and a TRD 5s-fe Kevlar clutch for my gen3.

Yup. - 5S-FE Kevlar Clutch specificaly for the camry.

No prob. Let me know how the shifter works for you. I messed up my hand right pretty bad in an accident. I won't be able to shift until after... well, after I can at least tie my own shoes agian.

Maybe the TRD short shifter for the older Celica, which also uses the 5s-fe engine, would work too. I saw it on http://www.toyotaguys.com

I haven't done it yet. The shift kit is in the trunk of my car. I have temp. lost the use of my right hand so no shifting or wrenching for at least a year for me.
but Wratith [SC3] said it works in his gen3 and he's worth trusting.
The only Q i have is if the shape of the stick will clear the hole in the center console? G4 sticks have a wicked bend in them but the bolts line up directly.
