Gen5 LED Taillights

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Camry...QQcmdZViewItem
I came across this on ebay. My moms birthday is next week and I want to get her something. Anyone know how hard this would be to install on an 05 camry? Is it plug and play or do I gotta do some wiring to make leds work? Also anyone got these installed? More pics would be nice

Personally I think they look great... but from past experience with LED tail conversions you'll probably get a "bulb out" warning on your dash. The LED's use a significantly less amount of current as opposed to your OEM bulbs. If you do have that problem its a simple solution of adding resistors.

They're ugly and probably won't fit. They're designed to fit on the Asian-spec Gen 5 Camry. I'm fairly certain that there are slight differences in overall shape from the North American version.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

So this is not plug and play like the oversea Altis taillights? Hmm has me wondering. I love the style of them and it would make my moms LE look unique. I already put in SE headlights for her and they look hot! LED tails would complete the package

I highly doubt that they'd fit. The headlights on the Asian-spec Camry come with projectors, and look similar to the headlight shape of the North American spec, but there are slight differences, and there's no way to fit it without major modification. I would expect the same with the tails.

lol do you really think your mom cares about the lights? I know my mom wouldnt, as long as it works and lights up. Thats a sort of weird present, just find something more SPECIAL. You probably drive the car huh? lol

Nah I drive my rolla. What would you get a mom that has almost everything a mom can need? She has been getting flowers and cards for the past few years now for mothers day and her birthday. IMO I think its time for a change. She loves her car. What should I get her? She will be retiring from her work soon.

Instead of getting new taillights (which if it were my mom, she would think it'd be a waste of money unless the ones on it weren't working ), and you want to do something for her, why don't you take her car to get detailed or something?

There are many little touches you could do for her that are car-related as well. One of those massaging seat-thingys, perhaps? I got one for my mom for Christmas a couple of years ago, and she still uses it.

But I must say, those LED tails look pretty sweet.

^Oh snap great idea. She does have back problems after doing hard labor for the last 20 years of her life. We once bought her this one massage char thing a while back but it was crap. It only ended up hurting her more than before. Ill go out and take a look at some new things, maybe the thing where you put your feet in the water and it massages your feet? BTW I detail her car and my car every weekend so ya like I said, she has almost everything she needs. Thanks for the idea mike.

or even better... get her a gift certificate for a full day spa treatment (usually like manicure, pedicure, facial, and massage). SHE'LL LOVE IT I GUARANTEE IT.

No problem. As for the back massager thing, there are a ton more options out there now than there were when I got hers. I see some now that have a heating function, as well as some that you can either use in the car or take in the house, which my mom does a lot with hers (I remember that being the reason I splurged on that particular one).

And I can relate, my mom has either worked in factories or warehouses as long as I can remember, so it seemed like a perfect idea. I think my dad got her one of those foot water spa things years ago, but she never used it too much. I think the relief she got was outweighed by all it time it took to get it set up and ready to use, lol.
