Camry & Solara LoungeDiscussion area for every generation of Toyota's family car, the Toyota Camry. Lexus ES250/300 owners welcome! Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance and more.
There has been alot of discussion around the board about breaking up the Camry section into subforums based on Generation. What are your thoughts and opinions.
Keep in mind that if we do break them up they will be mixed up for a while.
I like being able to see what guys are doing with different gen camrys without having to go into another forum. Also kinda unites us under a single page. Not to mention, A lot of stuff crosses between gens.
To many posts per day with the new gen 6. It will be like this for a year since they are the "new toys". Break it up so that searchs will be more relevant and important things pertaining to specific gens don't get bumped 3 pages by days end.

^ I kind of agree, the other gens are being lost by the 6 guys, which isnt their fault... but its happening. i like them all together as well though, but if it helps people get info more quickly and easily...
no, only because 6 different forums will be way too many.
And since platforms are typically used for multiple generations, it'd be better to lump common ones together
Sample would be
83-86 (Gen 1)
87-91 (Gen 2)
92-01 (Gen 3+4) Camries should be together in a forum, since its the same platform and electronics, but different body parts
02-present (Gen 5+6) since these are newer and do not really share the same components as the earlier models, and since these gens are where all the new peeps with questions tend to be asking about
I am also with Duece and Silver Streak on their ideas of combining a few gen's together.
I like to have a look see on what is going on with diff gen's old or new myself so I think combining 2 gen's in the same catagory would help on specific questions but not be too many subforums to sort through just to see what other guys are doing with thier's and still be able to help with mechanical or electrical issues that don't really matter what gen they might be.
awww yeaaah.... i believe this is partly due to my post in the site suggestions thread!

Yes. Not only will it help pertain information to their respective generations better, but it will help those seeking answers by people replying that have knowledge with that particular generation.

There are ways around it, remapping the microsoft servers, stopping the service, using a firewall. But what I personally do is close my curtains, wrap my computer in tin foil and yell "BRING IT ON" over and over again. -Drunken_panda
