I was wondering, is it possible to install a turbocharger and supercharger onto a gen4 camry 4 banger?

yes you can put a turbo on your car but it will take alot of time for the kit to be available form EL prototypes.Im sure you can go custum but that is expensive..
there's a kit offered by TRDNW go check them out... its for the 5s motor i think they are only offering a kit that runs on 7psi only but if i were u custom it... do it yourself or find someone who knows a lot about engines and ask lots of questions... changing the internals would help esp if u plan to run at higher psi's good luck man!!!

Don't hold your breath on that kit. It's been promised to come out more than 2 years ago already. Go custom! :smile:
Actually its out already since last summer i already saw the car... not bad.. but not enough power that i wanted.... i highly suggest customizing your 5s... most parts are interchangeable with the 3sgte .. ie. the metal head gaskets and stuff.. most do work... so try stuff out do some research... i found a turbo unit i plan to use and then now researching for my internals.. .. that's part of the fun.. that's why its a camry!!! hehehee.. good luck
It's fine and good to ask whether we can supercharge or turbo the car, but don't take those terms for granted and throw them around. Research and learn how each works and the performance characteristics of each.

All things considered I couldn't be better I must say.
I'm feeling SUPER, no, nothing bugs me;
Everything is SUPER when you're...
I would look into transplanting a V6 engine instead of turboing it. Most likely it will be cheaper even with the engine, tranny, and ecu. Something to think about...

I know they have a test mule out. I was saying released for sale to the general public. If it was already for sale, people (camry owners) would have already purchased it. But since they like to blow motors, they (Ray and the rest of the crew) still have bugs to work out. :smile: Oh well.
BTW, to answer the kid's question, yes you can put a supercharger and turbo on a 5S-FE. The concept is called twin charging. It's costly but it can be done with alot of money. You would have to find custom units to fit it. The TRD S/C will not be applicable.

If your going to go custum a Supercharger can be an altenative,all you need to do is buy a vortech V1 s/c and get custum mounts and stuff for your car and then you have instant power and less problems then a turbo setup.
Not really. I would be about the same deal.. change tranny, change ecu, swap engine. Might as well do 3S-GTE swap.

Basically with money anything is possible. But as far as what's already out there, turbo would be your best bet and I would recommend a custom setup from a good, reputable shop.
Check out some of the places in your area.

A custom install is always good to go with... because u would know what goes into your car... although ur car becomes the guinea pig in the situation. but you would have something no one else does...
someone said something about twin charging !!! can the 5s handle it??? curious!! also the vortech that was mentioned earlier.. how much psi is it running?
also forgot to add this.. if u were to supercharge a 5s what would be required... i've read a lot about the turbo units and wat is required... you said its cheaper to s/c the car..internal mods or etc/??
