Gen6 NAV DVD hack

Last weekend i got my car tinted. The guy there told me he can hack the factory Nav. on the 07 XLE so it can play DVD. He said he done it to the Tacoma, and is pretty sure it can be done to our 07 Camry as well. Any input will be appreciated. TIA.

it doesn't already play in park?

(in which case you find the switch and disable it---but is illegal)

The '07 Camry's are not made from the factory to play DVD's, only DVD Navigation... yes there is a way around this (which I do not know) but playing DVD's while the car is in motion (other than a rear-DVD system) is illegal as it distracts the driver.

I have done a lot of searching. This system is different than that of the Lexus GX and other systems that have the hack floating around the internet. There is no known hack that I am aware of.

At the time he told me that he is sure that it use the same interface as the Tacoma with Nav. And he has done it. I will have to ask him for sure. It will be nice to take a road trip and let passenger watch dvd (yeah its illegal but i have basic common sense).

As far as I can see there are a few problems with this "info." Most of which, the tacoma is not available from toyota with factory Navigation. SO what system is this tint guy referring to?

Yes, the Tacomas don't have the navigation option. The Toyotas that do offer Navigations are:

Land Cruiser
Camry
Avalon
Sienna
Prius
Highlander

In Japan, all of their models offer Navigation, even the Yaris. They should offer that here

Hey you got me there (or is it he?). Well its a local guy here in houston at a prominent auto electric and tinting shop called Executive Motoring. I have to give him a call and see if the camry is hackable.

Are you really going to let a stranger without any credentials mess with your navigation system? What happens if something screws up? Is he really going to take responsiblity for his actions?
