Radio illumination out, all other interior fine.

Hi everybody,

New to the forum, I just bought a 2001 camry and I am loving it. The one question I have is that all of the interior illumination works except the radio and the light around the lighter. I checked fuses and didn't find one blown. Any idea's what to check.

Does the hazard and ashtray light work? They all get their power from the same source as the cigarette lighter light. Check the wiring (Blue and Green) also the Cig/Radio and Dome fuses.

The cig, dome lights and radio function just not the lights, so I will double check those fuses. I will check the hazard buttong light on lunch.

Where should I check the wiring, behind the radio?

Pulled the radio apart. Looks like the backlight is out. Oh well, I will put in an aftermarket.

Update, the cigarette lighter light runs between the same junction boxes as the rear window defogger, A/C switch, blower switch, A/C control assy and ashtray lights. The wires for these lights are Black and Green. Power comes from the 7.5A Panel fuse. If the hazard light works, power should be getting to the junction box that supplies power to these lights.

Check the bulbs and see if the wires running from the lights that do not work are connected to the junction boxes.

The radio gets its power from the Radio No1 and Radio No 2 fuses. Check to make sure the radio is getting power at the Gray and Blue/Yellow wires. The radio lights seem to be internal to the radio. If the radio is getting power, the lights should work unless there is a problem with the lights or inside the radio..
