First, check the coolant temperature sensor with a DVM and the specs from any manual. If that goes out of spec, it could be telling the computer the car is always cold and is making the car run a richer than normal mixture. Also check the thermostat by feeling the top and bottom radiator hose after the car has been driven about 10-15 minutes. They should be equally warm. If the thermostat fails in the open position, the car will take a long time to warm up, if it ever reaches operating temperature. This again would result in a richer mixture and lower fuel mileage. Finally jack up each wheel with the e-brake off and check to see that each wheel spins freely. The slightest bit of brake drag will result in decreased fuel mileage. Just be carefull doing this. You don't want the car falling on you. TN needs all the members it can get.

This works like a super woman in just 6 easy steps!

1) Buy full tune-up parts (look for FRAM and Mobil1), bottle of engine flush, GUNK throttle body/ Air intake cleaner, fuel injection

2) Get a full tune-up, and set FRAM fuel filter, Mobil 1 fully sythenthetic oil + Mobil 1 oil filter aside.

3) Before changing oil, dump entire bottle of engine flush in your oil container. Run eninge on idle for a few minutes. The engine flush will delete any gum or oil goop inside engine, so basically it's flush that crap out nice and clean. Shut off engine.

4) Drain the oil. Change the filter and add new oil.

5) Change your air filter! Go K & N. Spray entire bottle of GUNK throttle body cleaner where the air filter is connected. This will wash out dirt inside the throttle body and make it look brand new.

6) Add 8oz of fuel injector inside your gas tank and fill that baby up with premium gas.

I'm warning you, after you tap the gas you may go flying. So be easy with the gas. Now if you drive normal, you should get probably 28-30mpg in your Camry.

i agree that you should clean the throttle body and intake
if you changed the spark plugs you got to clean the fuel injectors

Clean the MAF. Buy a can of CRC electronic cleaner and search for instructions here.
