..Help with speakers.....

Just yesterday, my friend gave me a pair of kenwood speakers, because he didn't need anymore. However i'm not sure if those speakers are for the back or the door speakers.. Can anyone tell me how to check? I have a gen 3. Last question are speakers are to install?

holla back

Front speakers are 6.5" (Round)
Rear speakers are 6"x9" (Oval)

To replace the fronts you'll need to remove the door trim panel, which isn't hard, but IS a pain in the ass.

To replace the rears you'll need to pull a whole bunch of shit out. I haven't done this yet but there's a bunch of info if you search.

Good luck.

like mentioned, fronts are 6.5" and the rears 6x9". not that the new speakers you put in probably won't line up with the stock mounting holes. so you'll need to ether cut or create your own custom mounts.

click on my banner below, then on the DIYDS section... there's a guide to install your rear speakers. i'll have a front speaker install guide up next week sometime.

yes... for the fronts you'll need to take off the door panels. you'll need to remove the door handle bezel, pop off some screw caps and unscrew the screws. there's 2 near the hinge side, 3 in the door rail (one of them being behind the light) and 4 clips near the bottom the you need to pop out. after all of those things are loos you just need to pull up on the rail and the whole panel should come out.

the other hard part of the job will be feeding the speaker wire through the grommet in the door through to the grommet in the kick panel. you'll need to feed a hanger through... then tape the speaker wire to the hanger... and pull the hanger back though the grommets.
