My 5S-FE gas consumption - Good?

I finally kept track and didn't forget to measure the miles I drive and the gas I pumped.

One gas tank, I did exactly 325 miles. (I refilled when quarter tank left everytime)

mix of 70% city and 30% highway.

Sounds good or is that not good?

Solara, same 5S-FE 4-cly engine older camry's have.

How much gas did you pump?

I filled 15.6 gallons today and I drove 406miles since last time I filled up. Comes out to 26 miles per gallon.

ah crap. I only added in $10 yesturday. Not a total fill-up (which I should of done)

It was a full tank and been driving it down to the 1/4 tank mark. 325miles total. its a rough estimate compared to keeping track of gallons and miles. Eh, next week.

The thing about the fuel gauge in my Camry is that the tank is kinda divided into thirds. Your's might be the same way.

The top portion of the gauge is six gallons, the next two larger portions are 3 gallons each, and the last one is the remaining six gallons. This is a rough estimate only. That's if your fuel guage looks like this anyway...

26mpg sounds about right for 70/30 city/hwy for a Camry 5SFE. With steady highway driving, the mileage can climb into the 30’s.

hey touringcamry, i'm not quite sure i understand... so like the area on the gas gauge where there is more space is only 3 gallons while the very top and very bottom are 6? who told you that? it seems confusing and weird..

I dont think it is divided in 3 and 6 gallons....I am pretty sure that is just the way Toyota had to space the marks to get the gas hand to register right . I have seen many cars gauges look like this and I am prettty sure they represent 1/4 's of a tank for each mark.

I guess one way to find out is to fill it all the way full and measure milage from full to first mark and then measure from that mark to the halfway mark and compare....I bet they come out to about the same

26-27 MPG is what I get with mixed city/hwy driving. My best tank was 33 MPG, going 70-80 MPH almost all the way.

When I changed my tires to Falkens, the grip improved, the mileage dropped a bit. I was getting 27-28 MPG when the car had original tires.
