Just installed my Speed Source shifter cable bushings [pics]

The owner of Speed Source [www.speed-source.net] Carl Crawford, some of you might know, was the guy who did the 3SGTE swap on Alex's (swegyptian) Orange/Gold Camry.

Well his company makes brass shifter cable bushings that replace the rubber inserts which link the shifter cables to the shift linkage on the tranny. There is more info on his site, but these work for all Toyota cable shift transmissions (MR2, camry, corolla, etc..)

I installed mine last night, took about 30 minutes to do, and they work awesome! The tranny definitely knows how to go into gear better and its made the shifter feel very toit. In a good way of course, not a stiff way. In any case, best CAN$50 i ever spent (after customs and everything).

Here are the pics of course:

Sweet Ratko, I thought about upgrading to those also. Time to work on the car again since weather is getting better. Ratko, did you have to remove anything to get to/replace the bushings?

What are you having to modify it for?

You know the side lever that comes out the side of the shifter (pointing the driver)... well its just a tad short and because of this, it doesnt fit all the way into the notch which actuates the side-to-side movement of the shifter, and because of this, there is a bit of play in the shifter from side to side.... so i plan on bending the side piece of the shifter assembly so that it fits in all the way, and I have a toit shifter again.

Good stuff, Rocco.

I'll have to try it out last time, along with your knock sensor mods.

I think I'm going to be getting these for my gen2. I just checked, and it looks like they will fit quite nicely in there. I also need to shim the shifter so that its nice and tight (toit? ). I have a twm shortshifter and its not quite perfect, so there is a bit of play. Thanks for posting about this!

I realize I'm resurrecting an old thread, but did you ever bend that lever to get it just right?
Do you ever miss shifts because of it?

and has anyone else gotten these? I'm interested in getting them.
