Took my car into the shop to buy new tires, and had them do a courtesy check; They drove for about 10 min, came back and told me my brakes are all out of whack!. I believe them b/c i can feel it.
I want to buy the pads and rotors myself and then have them install it, and here is what im thinking.
Total:$356.08 Shipped +Install Are these a good choice, or could I be better spending my money? Looking for great improved stopping over stock and durability.
do you race the car? are the nicer components worth the money? i could see getting the drilled rotors and so on if your going around a race track and you have brake fade, but on the street with a stock camry? my 2 cents, save half the money and get stock components.
Maybe it is the fact that the brakes ARE worn that im get the slugish feeling.
However when I worked as valet, there where some cars where as soon as I started to press on the break it was stopping. VS. my camry in order to achive that I must go somewhat deeper on the brakes.
I pressume one could call that a more suave/smooth stop.
i concur with Ghettosled. Drilled rotors are superfluous , not needed unless you drive very hard. Same with ceramic pads.
We don't know how you drive, if you have felt the brakes fade ever, then maybe you need the high-performance parts. If you drive easy, save your hard-earned money and go with stock, or generic.
If you look at stop-tech's website they recomend using slotted (not drilled) for racing type braking because the drilled rotors can develop cracks at the holes. They say drilled is ok for street though. Just wanted to throw that out there.
Is it worth the risk (I.E. great breaking difference) to get the brembo cross drilled that do not have warranty for warpping and ckracking vs the slotted rotors by brembo?
Dont eat me alive if Im wrong, but from what Ive read on the internet:
* Slotted rotors can have a tendency to crack
* Slotted rotors increase brake pad wear and only really add alot to stopping distance in the wet
* The gains from both aernt really that big for your average driver overall
Personally I would just look to buy normal rotors with GOOD pads becuase often you will notice a difference with just having better pads.... you will save alot as well!
Just my thoughts...
