this is my first actual engine upgrade other then the strut bar i put in so i'm new at it. My problem is that while i was looking under the hood, i noticed that the intake duct was connected to another black, plastic object under it.. I don't know what it is and if it should be taken out. and if it's not supposed to be taken out, how do i disconnect the intake duct from it? Your help is appreciated
oh yeah, and i drive a 97 camry 4cyl

I think you are talking about the O2 sensor which is connected to the box where the OEM air filter sits. Just pull it out and your injen intake should have a port for it.

i don't think so. it's another black piece that the intake is connected to on the bottom with a clamp. it says "denso" on it. i'll post a pic of it soon.

Sounds like the air intake box. That should all be removed when you install the intake.

The O2 sensor is part of the exhuast not intake. Your talking about the IAT (intake air temperature) sensor.

Are you talking about that little black plastic box thats clamped onto the bottom of the intake pipe? Thats the resonator.

You'll be getting rid of the airbox, filter, intake pipe + resonator, and the stock black rubber hoses if you choose to replace them with the ones that come with the Injen intake.
