Question 2005 Camry oil filter

I just changed the oil filter (I used a Toyota filter) and the filter leaked.
I noticed that the filter case, when hand tightened, seemed to contact the engine block before I had turned it the 3/4 turn after gasket contact,
Has anyone had this experience?
PS: Toyota gave me another filter and it did not leak.

Did the old gasket come off the first time?

After additional check, the latest filter also leaks.
I checked for foreign material on the oil filter seat and there is none. It just seems that the filter can is contacting the engine before the gasket compresses.
I have now replaced the filter with a fram filter and it is not leaking.

Sound like you got the wrong Toyota filter. The 4 cyl filter will do exactly what you're describing.
