Replaced my antenna
Replaced my antenna today, certainly took longer than the 10 minutes they said it would take but that wasn't their problem. Aparently a bunch of crap was frozen inside of the motor housing so I had to open that up and defrost it. Took me bout half an hour to realize that something was wrong in the motor housing. After I opened it, which took a matter of minutes, I let removed all the ice and let it thaw a bit. Then I reattached everything and put it back in the car. Instead of just putting the antenna into the opening, I secured the metal pipe thing with the antenna attached with the chrome ring. Then held the motor housing near the bottom of the metal pipe and let the wire go in as it put the antenna down. And once most of the white plastic toothed wire was in the motor housing I remounted it onto the car and then made the antenna go up and down a few more times to make sure it aligned right and went all the way up and down.
Total time: 2 hours. Should only take half an hour max.
I found this to be much easier with 2 people, although if you have a remote for your head unit you may only need one person. I bought the antenna off ebay for $15 + $6 S&H. So a total of $21 US isn't too bad considering from what I've heard it costs more than $50 to have it done at a dealer.
