big ups!!!

I love seeing things like this... A nice trend change from the common "clear taillights" and "engine swap" topics

88LE: Its messy shit aint it? hehe Hows the turbo holding up, is it up and running again?

latez.

Nice pics man, good job with the mounts too. Hope they perform as well as you hope.

Question though...Where'd you find the 3m Windo Weld? Any big chain of stores that has shops down here in SoCal too? I've seen other polyurethane tubes but I'm hesitant to go with anything less than a sure thing.

I searched the website for "polyurethane" and it came up empty. I guess I'll have to stop by and ask...

No their not back on the car yet.

I won't be putting them back on till I get another motor.

The ones I took off are on the front and rear of the block.

Theres also one on the side of the engine by the timing belt cover and another one on the tranny.

Napa Autoparts.

I tried Kragen's and Autozone, but they don't have it.

The stuff you want is 3M Windo-Weld Super Fast Urethane (08609). See pic that Ratko posted.

I did the same thing as 88LE. I filled in my front and rear motor mounts with polyurethane. I actually used non-3M stuff... It looks like it will be just as strong, but it took 3 days to be really solid. My mounts are slightly different than 88LE's, and I couldn't get the rear mount back in (the motor was still in the car). I had to take the rear mount and cut around the outside so that its back to being two piece like it was originally. (did that make sense? ) It still is filled in with the polyurethane, but its not one solid piece.

Don't do this mod if you want a smooth idle! The car vibrates like an old honda with the stiffer mounts. BUT... the engine and care feel really well connected. No flopping at throttle lift. Easier clutch engagement... Its nice once you are moving.

Have fun with it guys!

-Charlie

PS. Sorry, no pics.

Well on a gen 3 4cyl. (5S-FE) the only mount you can fill in is the dogbone mount.

I'm not sure about a gen 3 V6 (3VZ-FE or 1MZ-FE). Take alook at the motor mounts and see which ones you can fill in.

Heres some pics I took of the dogbone mount from my friends 5S-FE.

Dogbone mount busted to shit:

Cut out all the remaining rubber (since it was busted anyways):

Mount filled in:

sorry for the n00b question but what do you gain by doing this mod?

i know the factory mounts allow the engine to move when you start it up so you dont feel it as much in the car. this mod will make it feel jerky when you start the car i suppose or idle.

what does it do positive?

thanks
