3rd Generation random breakdown. help.

so yesterday i was sitting in traffic and the car was running fine up until this point.
so i was sitting it was idling just fine, i go to hit the gas and as soon as i did it just started running like crap at less than 500 rpm. just put a new fuel filter in but that didnt fix, got fuel pressure from the pump. timin belts fine, the only thing im not sure of is spark but i dont want to do that now because of all the gas everywhere. so any help would greatly appreciated. btw its a 5s.

eh, no but there was some around the filter which is pretty close to the rest. but i found the problem, it turned out i had no spark, went got an igniter, no fix, returned that overlyexpensive piece of crap, took the distributor off got the ign. coil off, which was cracked. so i went and got a new one, and it works, but the car runs like crap and can barely hold an idle. i think its timing which i tried to fix but it wouldnt let me turn it around 180 degrees and go back in, even though there are slots for the way i was putting it in, so i just left it and im just gonna tackle it tomorow.

well. now i am. turns out my timing wasnt really off. i cranked and cranked and let it sputter till i could get it to stay and once i could get it above 2 grand it would stop sputtering, and i held it there for a few minutes and it came back down to a smooth idle. but there is the occasional sputter now. and i accidentally broke off the thing that looks like the coolant temp sens but the its 2 spaces to the left of the coolant temp sens, and i thinki thats probly whats causing the check engine light. but give me ur guys input.
