Governing Chip?

I just got myself a v4 Solara, wish I had the chips for a v6, and I was driving down to DC the other night and this is what I noticed.
The speedometer says 140mph max. I hit 120mph and it felt like the gears were shifting and the car would have died if I went any faster. I don't think this was due to having an automatic, also wish the dealership had stick. I digress,

I cannot affor a performance chip and don't think I need one, however, I would like to be able to accelerate faster off the line and from between 75mph to 85mph.

The dealership says they know nothing about a governing chip that would restrict fuel intake. I don't know much about cars so if someone can explain, it would be much apprieciated.

Thanks

Adam

First off, cars have not used V4's for years, they use i4's or flat 4's, yours is a I=inline.

As for the issues you are having, its just a matter of horse power. You are lucky to have the I4 because Ripp mods has just release a s/c kit for that engine that should help you 65-85 mph times just fine Their other kits add over 100 hp on other I4's. In the mean time, look for the simple stuff, intake and exhaust.
