oil change and smog test

Hi, all

Would oil changing be any helpful to pass smog test?
Do I need a pre-test first, according to the following info, for my 96 camry with 110K?

Thanks in advance

toyotas seem to run close to the edge during smog checks.my sugg. first. make sure the egr is functional. easy to check. with engine idleing in neutral. second. chage the oil (yep) lots of contaminants in there. third. run a full can of BG Brand fuel system cleaner through the tank. fourth. take it for the smog check and pay them to do a pre-test. (dont let them hook you up to the computer as yet..if you get tagged as a gross polluter you will get stuck going to a test only station for the rest of the cars life. also, take out the O2 sensor, examine it, is it carboned up? replace it. if its serviceable, the BG cleaner will really clean it up. Make damn sure you get the car nice and hot before you go for the testing. also, clean out the throttle body with some crc brand or similar throttle body cleaner.........

If the car has been taken care of, you have nothing to worry about. Just take it to get smogged. I've never had a problem smogging my 00 Camry and I did not do anything special to it prior the inspection

If you have any aftermarket intakes, exhausts and such remove them before going to smog unless they are CARB certified.

My dad's 90 Corolla has never had a problem with smog either.

Just take it in for a pretest or let the guy hook the car up to the sniffer probe without running the smog test to see what happens. The technician should be able to put the sniffer in the exhaust without running a test to see if anything is out of tolerance.

All cars i have owned were pushed trough the test due to the following reasons:
The previous owner did the oil change every two years (he was driving 2 kmi in a year);
The cat was eaten up and became ineffective;
The engine has scuffed pistons, leaking valves and over-machined cylinder head,
All cars passed visual, functional, had been tuned up, ran strong despite abused but low mileage engines, had some missing on idle speed, etc., etc.
