pcv valve grommet

Dear everyone on the board,

though it may sounds stupid, but I am experiencing a huge trouble right here.
Is there any special tool or easier way to take out the pcv grommet? i've been working with it for the past 2 hours...but had little luck..
i cut a portion of it off, used a plier, flat head screwdriver..but ya, it's still in there...
can anyone please help?

sam

try a little oil. soak it a tad. the grommet dries out over the years and the heat of the engine doensnt help much either. it will be very brittle and will most likely break apart on you, so make sure you have a new one from toyota. just keep plugging away at it with the needlenose and a if you have a right angle pick tool use it. a flathead will work but you need to be careful not to damage the aluminum valve cover.

Lightbulb

I, too, had a really hard PCV grommet (my truck is in my signature).

I just waited until I had the valve cover off for the valve lash inspection. Then, I could really chip away at the hardened rubber w/ impunity and not fear that any particles would fall into the top end.

Guys,

I have around 400 of those grommets in stock. Drop me a line if you need any.
