Smile My New '07 Camry SE 4 Stnd Shft

Hi, everyone:

I have had my new Black SE since 08/17/06, and am writing about my evaluation so far. The car is now broken in as I have driven 1800+ miles so far. No problems so far. A few of you wrote that your SE 4 nearly stalled as you were driving thru EZ Pass stalls. Went from NY, thru NJ and De last wk end and drove thru many EZ stalls w/ no problems at all as I down shifted and then shifted into higher gears, after driving thru. Some of you wrote that the lining around the sun roof gets warped after extensive exposure to elemnets while open. I noticed a very slight fraying of such lining, but I don't use the sun roof to open; I like it closed as it illuminates my dark interior - charcoal seats w/ a dark gary dash. The only thing that is slightly disappointing is that this car is noticeably lighter than my 02 SE 4 cyl. I have not driven during highs winds yet, and I hope the '07 holds the road on the super highways as good as the '02 SE. I hope the same goes well when I drive in snow later this year. The non-luxury speakers are excellent, and the 17 inch wheels, Michelins, give me a comfortable ride. The adjustable steering wheel is a great untilty, and I really like controlling the radio and CD changer from the steering wheel. The milegae has been

All in all, I ould earnestly recommend the '07 SE 4 stndard shift. I think it is regrettable that Toyota will be discontinuing standard shfts for future Camry models.

Hope these comments can help any of you who own or are considering buying the 07 Camry SE 4 standard shift model.

Glad you're enjoying your Camry. For any concerns about how your SE should handle in the snow, hear's a review of the SE from a automotive journalist who is well known for disliking Toyota and especially the Camry on a test drive review in the detroit winter.

As for stabillity in high winds or passing transport trucks... thankfully, the SE specific underbody spoilers, especially the rear underbody air diffuser was purposely engineered for efficient and optimal down force on the driving wheels, and air flow parallelling the direction of the vehicle. That said, having one of the lowest Co-efficient drag numbers in the business doesn't hurt either.

They are removing standard shift Camrys in the future????
If that's true, then they are making a big mistake!!!!!!!!!
The only type of car that I will own is a stick shift, I hate automatic cars!!!!!!......they are boring(no offense to automatic guys)

IMHO, lighter = better millage and faster off the line. I am not sure what the weight diff between the gen 5 and gen 6. High performance cars are looking at shaving pounds w/o sacrificing performance

nice write up and hope u enjoy ur camry
