Smile Camry Window Issue

I have a 1998 Camry XLE and recently I have started having issues with the driver's side window. It goes down just fine, but when I try to bring it up it goes up a ways then dies. I wait a few minutes then try again and it goes up a few more inches. Seems as though I have to recharge it to get it all the way up to the top. I thought that when window motors went out they just stopped completely.

Does anyone know what is causing this? Or how much this would cost to get fixed?

Thanks much!

It may be binding. You can pull the door panel and lubricate the regulator. If that doesn't work, you'll likely need to replace the motor.

Before replacing anything, I wouddl try spraying some WD-40 liberally down the front and back window channels. Sometimes dirt accumulates in the channels and causes the window to bind. The WD-40 both cleans and lubricates the channels. If this helps, go back and spray some type of more permanent lubrication down the channels, as the WD-40 will eventually wash away from all the rain water. White lithium grease might be a good choice, but use the WD-40 first.

you are in luck.

Have the same problem.

Motor is going.

I have a gen 3.
Regulator broke, so i bought a new one off ebay for a fraction of a toyo regulator/motor.

Worked for like 2 months.
Then when I have to get it up, it would crawl for 1-2inch. Happened for like 1 year so i seldom open my windows cos it took some time to "recharge" and move up.

I cleaned the terminal as somebody suggested on TN. No luck.

That broke and I bought a new regulator / motor off ebay.
Now, it's fun to see it go down and know that it is coming up
