Lightbulb New Paint on Body Kit Question

Hey Guys,

Well I am getting a new bodykit from my new sponsor JT Autostyle and I live in Utah and thats where the kit is being shipped. After I get the kit and install it, I want to drive to Montana where I am from(i am in the airforce) to see family. I can get the kit painted by my best friend for $100, he painted my last kit and did a great job. But when I get it painted I have to drive back to Utah with new paint, I have no way to ship it other then drive it installed. So is there a way to cover the front end to prevent rock chips and things from chipping the new paint job. Please give me some advice how to get it from MT to Utah.

Thanks allot for the hel pin advance.

Sean

well, I'd say as long as the paint's cured, you may as well get some of that 3M clear bumper cover thingies.....they're kinda expensive, but they'll protect your kit on the drive home, and also afterwards for a good long time....

and porps for a sweet cam

don't much like the back tho.....you need some red around there....the just white on dark blue looks kinda......off.....

Re:

Thank you for the advice. I heard about the 3M sheets you said, but is it a spray or a film or how is it installed and should I cover the whole kit and hood or just the front(I dont know how much it is so..). I saw something about them a while back but dont remember where.

I would ask my buddy but he doesnt have email and I dont have phone access and I am not exactly in the US right now. Its kinda hard to look into too much of it now cause I am in Kuwait with the AirForce(since Nov)but should be going home here soon( I hope) but when I get back its on.

Thanks

Sean

whoops typo.....

and the 3m stuff is actually stick on, not spray on......it's top quality, and I think they can come pre-cut, or you can do it yourself? not sure.....never really thought about it, cuz it's kinda expensive for a stock, non-special front lip.....

actually, skperformance was talking to some of us about it a couple of weeks ago.......he probably can't help you get any, but he could at least give you more of an idea of how it works and stuff like that. give'em a pm.

and good luck.

it's diff for gen3 lights.....the way he's got his are too small, and they look weird.....but even for your car, personally, I'd put in the red/whites....

Re:

hey guys just want to say thanks for all the help. when i do it i will post and let you know how well it worked for future referance. thanks again.

as far as the lights in the rear go, its the only way to custom the rear is to paint the inners, the clears are very rare so you have to sport them. i personally do not like the color red and blue and white(clear) go very well together, love the Camry in the above pic. looks sharp and love the color.
but thanks for the advice still.

cheapest way and most convinient way is to saran wrap it.. that what I do when I do long distance traveling.. but in your case make sure the paint is cured first.(atleast 2-3 days dry)

Re:

Hey Guys, Thanks for all the help. I will diffentately give the Saran Wrap a try. So simple I never thought of it.

If you get a few I posted another Question about Molding the Rear on with Fiberglass or Bondo?

Can you help on that also.

Anyways, Thanks to everybody once again.
