Gen1 85 camry torque problem

hey all I own a 85 camry and Its been workin great for me. Ive only had to replace a few things because I knew what they were ive changed the alternator, brakes, clutch slave cylinder, windshield washer resivor, and oil n stuff. I now have a problem Im not quite sure what it is.
the engine has sometimes slightly miss fired..
when I rev it in neutral everything goes as usual, but when I slip it into first gear I imediatly lose almost all the torque untill it reaches a higher rpm but then the torque is still less than usual... the same story goes for every other gear I shift up into.."Low torque untill a higher Rpm"

the other day I was able to get it running like normal for about 1 hour when I twisted and moved around some of the tubes connected around the EFI, but I pulled all them off today and there as clean as a whistle

any body had similar problems.....any ideas Thanks!

Maybe you have a leak? Check to see that all the hoses you were playing with have a good seal. if necessary, mix up some soapy water and brush onto the lines, you may have a pinhole leak in one of them, which would cause problems.

You should get back to basics. What you are describing, missing on acceleration, sounds like an ignition system problem. When the system is under load is when ignition system problems seem to surface. Is this problem worse in wet/damp weather? Start by checking the plug wires through the distributor cap with a DVM for resistance. There should be a spec somewhere in any manual. If you can't find a spec, an old rule of theumb was approximately 7,000 - 10,000 ohms of resistance per foot of wire. Chances are you will find 1 or 2 you can't get any reading on. This means there is a break internally in that wire and it needs to be replaced. Best to replace the whole set.

If you don't find any problems with the plug wires, then I would check the distributor cap, rotor for signs of tracking. Next I would pull and replace the plugs themselves. They are cheap enough to just replace. They should be replaced every 30,000 miles on a generation 1 with the 2SE engine. If all this checks out OK, I would check the coil inside the distributor. They were a known trouble area on early generation Camrys. Again you will need a DVM and the specs from any manual to do this. You may also visually inspect the coil for any signs of hairline cracking. This was the known trouble spot.

the plug wires are pretty new but I still have to test em and I just replaced the dist cap/rotor and the spark plugs last december...

Im starting to think though it may not even be the ignition causeing the problem because it isnt a constant problem, it tends to hapen after the engine gets warmed up....
possibly a fuel pump?
Or filter?

I'll have to check the coil in the dist though for signs of wear i hope thats only it
