Smile 3VZ-FE Info

Hi guys, I just got myself a 3VZ-FE front clip for my MR2 And I have some questions.

1.What's the difference between the 3VZ and the 1MZ-FE? I know the 3VZ has an iron block and AFM.

2.Strong and weak points of both engines.

3.Specs of the 3VZ.

4.Info/guides for a fully-build 3VZ.

At the moment I'm planning to run the engine in NA form (built to Group N spec) and later I plan to turbocharge it. Any help would be much appreciated.

You're in luck, Sportcompactcar had an article on a 1mz-fe swap for an mr2. check out www.sportcompactcarweb.com . The article is fairly recent and should still be in the database with a bit of search.

straight from SCC:
3vzfe
weight: 469 lbs
has distributor ignition. closed-deck iron block. 10:1 compression ratio.
B/c the 3vzfe has iron block, it makes it a strong choice if you want to build a high-output turbo.

1mzfe: 401 lbs
compression ratio 10.4:1 aluminum head and block.
same bore as 3vz, but an additional 1.0mm stroke over 3vzfe. has sequential multi-port EFI, coil-on-plug distriburless ignition, variablae-plenum intake manifold, stainless steel tube headers, and trick girlde-reinforced main bearing caps.

More power on the 1mzfe than 3vzfe.

Thanx. I have a copy of SCC with the MR2 V6 swap. But it mainly covers the 1MZ-FE. Was hoping if anyone here can tell me more about the 3VZ.
