Question How to fix the trunk hinge

My car is 1990 camry dx v6.

I got a problem on the trunk hinge. there are two twist bars to lift
the trunk cover. However, a swing bar on the left side to hold a twist
bar disconnected with the cover when the pin was broken.

I got a new pin. But I don't know how to install it because of the
tension of the twist bar.

Do you know some trick to get it around ? thanks in advance

It looks like its easier to fix it with the trunk close. Fold down the back seats and crawl into the trunk.

1. Pop the bar back onto the mount on the strut tower.

2. Hook the mount that goes on the trunk arm around the bar.

3. Line up the holes in the mount to the holes in the trunk arm and install the pin.

Heres a pic:

Good luck and let us know if you get it fixed.

I tried this noon. Everything went well till I found I just have half piece of the mount. I find another half first .

I found it is easier to work with the trunk open.

I will get part and finish it later. However, I am confident that it is doable.

I want to thank 88le and BLUEMEANIE
