Ok, so my parent's ordered an 07 camry on May 23rd, and as of last week, toyota still doesn't have a build date. THAT'S 4 MONTHS AGO!!! Is anyone else havng this issue? The car is a Blue, CE with a 4 cylinder and a 5spd. Why wont they build it?
That sucks. I know the 2007 is hard to get. When we went to the dealership at the begining of this month, their were two on the lot. Two. There was a shipment coming in with 5 2007's. Two of them were already purchased. We made it three. It is so bad at some dealers that you can commit to a car, go look at another one, and the car you just commited to will roll of the lot with somebody else. But as for your problem, I havent heard about that. Sorry man.

My ride: The 2000 Camry LE I4 in Silver
My wife and I ordered our 07 4 cylinder XLE on Saturday August 28th. It came in and we picked it up last Saturday, September 23rd. That's exactly 4 weeks to the day. Something doesn't seem right here. Perhaps there is a shortage of 5 speeds that mate up to the 4 cylinder, but I'm really only guessing here. From what I heard, the 4 cylinder models aren't as hard to come by now as they were when the car was first introduced. I would talk to your dealer again and ask them what the problem is.
they keep saying they aren't Building ANY 5spd cars. Not until they get enough orders for them to make it worth "switching over the assembly lines" Sounds like bullshit to me.
I would call Toyota corporate at 1-800-331-4331 and follow the prompts to speak with customer service. I believe they call it Toyota Experience Center. Ask them if what the dealer is telling you about the 5 speeds is correct.
No Bullshit! They have a winner here. They're going to build as many as they can with the most popular options. Standard shift isn't one of them. So either you wait or change your preference. "Supply and Demand"

Well auto tranny's are for pussy's, and i doubt i'll ever buy a car with one, and I know my mom wont as long as her jints work well enough to use a clutch. So it looks like we'll be waiting. I'l give my dad that number and see what he wants to do with it.

Well, if y'all get the 6 spd. auto tranny she won't have to worry 'bout them joints cause you can shift it like a stick without a clutch.

still an auto. I've driven the "Clutchless manuals" like Audi's tipTronics. They still suck. But that's a differnt story. My parent's are think about calling and if they dont' get a straigh answer, cancel the car and go buy a new Accord or Altima Instead.
I just customized 2 4 banger 5spd last week and one was blue, for a Dealership they are out there, your dealer is just too lazy.
There is a demand for manuals, I would say a greater demand, but nobody really notices because most ppl move on to another model that they can get in a manual instead of waiting around.
BTW, just for the record, after checking the inventory for SouthEast Toyota Region, there is 57 5spd Man CEs out there, with a Blue Ribbon Metallic w/Graphite Ash interior going for $19,165 VIN XXXXXXXXXXX051291.
I can find out what it would take for a dealer to dealer transfer, since your in a different area, also if memory serves me correct, although this does not happen very often, you can buy it from the dealer that has it and then have it ship to your dealership. this way the lazy scum bags wont make anythign off of it. The only extra charge would be a delivery charge, but that would offset any taxes you would have paid buying the car locally.
And no I am not making anything off of this, I do alot of business with the dealership that has the car, they are one of my clients.
