new memeber-first toyota

looking for a winter vehicle i stumbled upon a 94 camry. the bad- its got 200K miles on it. the good, it rides like new. feels/sounds like the entire suspension was replaced and the engine seems stout- decent power and no smoke/leaks. the price was decent considering overall condition, so i took it home.

its an LE V6 2 door. Is there anything I should keep an eye on in these cars at this mileage? and what is typical mileage out of these cars?

i just hope toyotas dependability doesnt let me down because of the high miles.

Welcome

Congrats on your purchase, I guess FWD is truly an advantage come wintertown around your way. Funny thing is, that 'new' Toyota is probably more reliable than your other two combined , if they're taken care of they'll last 300-400k. In the mean time contact GS Motorsports for your SRT-8 and bump that power up to 500 rear wheel

look for strut mount problems.
check to see if the timing belt was replaced. cos if not, u will have to replace.
water pump too

oil leaks on the valve cover, rear main seal, distributor o ring.

might be good to change spark plugs, wires, distributor and cap/rotor

you are all go to go

thanks i RATHER have a rwd car in the snow, but i settled for the camry cause it was cheap, and supposaly reliable :p

as for the dodge, the magnum is in a different leage of dodge vehicles. truely an amazing car compared to other (even new 06) dodges i have ever driven. i would only put the gs motorsports blower on my car if i like to rebuild my engine and get shafted by them. their fuel management is adding an extra 2 injectors to the front of a dry intake manifold style and running a piggyback system. results in 2 lean cylinders and 2 rich cylinders and 4 ok. it looks ok on wideband because it just takes the average coming out. too bad it doesnt tell you that your 2 front cylinders are at 15:1 while your rears are at 8:1

and the transam only comes out a couple times a month to stretch its legs already been though about 4 transmissions, 1 rearend, 1 driveshaft, 1 engine, etc etc. parts are ok for stock power. but once you put down some real numbers, kaboom.

what kind of strut mount problem? front? suspension is very quiet. the carfax had some service records, one of them was suspension serviced about 40K miles ago.

how do i check the timing belt? never had a fwd motor that i could check the timing belt on.

i did notice the engine was a little oily, but nothing much to worry about. ill check the rear main (would that be on the driverside then?). is it hard to change sparkplugs/wires and cap/rotor?

youll have to forgive my lack of knowlege on these motors because I have only worked on larger rwd pushrod cars .
