4th Generation Fused Iridium + Platinum Spark plugs?

Hey everyone,

I was thinking of getting new sparkplugs for my 2000 Camry and did some research on all the plugs availible. I then came upon an interesting spark plug by Bosch that just came out called the Platinum Ir Fusion. Apparently it fuses the center electrode with both Platinum and Iridium. Plus it uses 4 yttrium enhanced grounds (supposedly it's some kind of material used mostly in superconductor applications). Those of you with spark plug expertise... wanna comment on this. Would such a configuration be any good at all, or is it all hype? Here's the link you can check out.

If anyones tried em out let me know!!

Sincerely,

Isaac Liao

Cool

I doubt you'll find someone willing. When you say a word like "Bosch" around someone owning a car equipped with Denso ignition coil<s>. They generally shudder.
Single electrode NGK, or Denso plugs. They don't just work. They work very, very well.

Agreed

After battling what seemed like a plug wire problem (4 sets in 6 months), I searched the forums here and found that BOSCH PLAT plugs do NOT work in these 2.2's. Every few thousand miles it will start to misfire with P0300 and P03XXX codes. Read here that if you switch to NGK or Denso plugs your problem will go away. SOB, I bought the Denso iridiums and the engine hasn't not misfired whatsoever since. BOSCH and TOYOTA do NOT mix........

Lightbulb bosch fusion are not real Iridium

I work in a automotive lab and did a little research on the Bosch "Fusion" plug when it 1st came out. It is called Iridium enhansed for a reason. It really is a Platinium plug with a small amount of Iridium, only 20% Iridium and the rest is Platinium. In comparrision the Denso Iridium plug is over 90% Iridium with a special Rhodium content they have the patent on. The Rhodium provides a better electrical conductivity. The Bosch Fusion has a much lower melting point, about 450C lower the the Denso which defeats the purpose of using an expensive Iridium plug. Additionally the Denso plug is the only plug who uses a .4mm center electrode remember the smaller the center electrode the better the spark, without Iridium the small center electrode would normally melt. The Bosch plug is a bunch of marketing hype. After I did this research (for a automotive firm) I use Denso Iridium Power plugs in everything I own and they really make a difference. Even on my old motorcycle they made the idle smoother which was always giving me problems I never thoght a plug could make such a difference.

USA Do you notice better mileage/performance?

I have 75k miles on my 2006 Highlander. I'm wondering if replacing the plugs now would give a little better MPG and performance.

The manual says to replace at 100k.

What do you think?
