uneven deceleration

I've been having some problems with my '02 Camry (2AZ-FE engine) that defy dealer explanation. It's been in twice for
the same problems, and all I've gotten is a "can't duplicate".

Whenever the temperature is between 50 and 70 degrees F,
and I am driving "in town" at approximately 35-45 mph,
every so often I'll get a "bump" where it acts like the engine
is momentarily shutting off.

Also, if I've been driving at about 40mph, and let off the
accelerator momentarily, the engine rpms will steeply dive
down to about 1100 rpm, then quickly recover to about 1400
rpm. Naturally, when this happens, it seems like the car "lunges"
instead of slowing down gradually.

This car is really phenomenal otherwise. This is our 2nd
Toyota, the other being my wife's '01 Corolla. We've really
been pleased, and other than these problems with the Camry,
haven't had ANY problems.

Would appreciate anyone's help or ideas. Thanks.

Auto or manual? Also, you mention the temperature... is this because when the temp is outside the given range you don't experience the problem? Not to be dumb, just trying to clarify.

does the whole car shut down for a second or just the rpms
may be a grounding issue that a wire is loose
but the 02-03 es 300 have had a few problems that they have a couple jap engineers in cali trying to figure it out
try a different dealer

This is an automatic. Also, the whole car doesn't shut down -
it's kind of like a miss, but much longer duration. The dealer
claims the engine computer doesn't capture anything, and
therefore doesn't want to do anything about it.

The car is at normal operating temperature when this
happens. It's kind of interesting, too, because this
happens much more frequently when the humidity
is high.
