spark plug wires

i am planning on changing the spark plugs on my 2001 5sFE camry.
i am leaning towards the NGK iridium. if i buy the correct part, will the
gap be alright? what is the gap for this model, is it 0.044"?

do i have to buy NGK wires or can I buy any other brand with it?

just ignore the gap.what you suppose to do is taking out the old one and install the new one if you get correct plug. because plugs have been gapped already.

Use NGK, Denso, or Toyota wires.

Always verify gap before installing. You don't know how many times the plugs were dropped between manufacture and delivery.

I had this same question when I changed the plugs on my 98 5SFE engine. I used Denso plugs. I called Denso tech support and they told me just put them in as they come out of the little box. There is no need to try to regap them. I did and had no problems.

The Denso plugs I bought had plastic tubes on them that covered the electrode ends. I assumed that these were to protect the gap and the electrodes from deforming during transit.

I think you are correct about the plastic tubes being there to protect the gap. They also protect the plug threads from nicks and deformities. Years ago cheap spark plug had cardboard tubes on them.

Question Checking the Gap on New Plugs

I've not put new plugs in my Camry yet (my car is in my signature), but I AM in the habit of checking the gaps on any plugs I put into any of my engines. What's the harm in checking? After all, it's an imperfect world!
