CD Player Install: Help Please!

Tonight. I tried to switch my cd player with the player from my othet car because the older one was not playing burned cd's. I got everything to work except for one thing, maybe two.

When ever i turn on the car, the cd player does not turn on automatically.

the cd player does not keep the set channels that i set up.

there is this wire on oem wires that is yellow and marked, "Memory 12v." i have no idea how to connect this onto the 'newer' cd player. There is also this wire that is coming out of the cd player called, "switched/ignition 12v" The stereo does not turn on if the "memory 12v" and the switched/ignition 12v" are NOT connected.

Questions:
how do i get the cd player to start when i turn the key?
Is it a mistake to connect the two wires that i talked about?

Thanks

i hope this helps u understand.

I am not sure where these wires are suppose to connect.

OEM wiring:
memory 12v+
power antenna (i don't think i need this one since my antenna don't move anyways

CD Player wiring:
ignition/switched 12v+

Why doesn't the OEM have the ignition switch?
How did my CD Player hold the memory when it was in my last car?

Thanks

Ummm...it's been a while..three or four months.

Um. Easiest for you to do is to use tester. Find the power cables. Turn ignition to ACC and test them. What you are looking for is the constant power source and the Ignition/ACC wire. Which should be gray or red for toyotas.

Then test those two wires you found with the key out.

Hook the one with the constant source to your memory cable to the stereo. The one that only turns on with the ACC hooks up to the regular power.

or ... do the the easy way and go out to a stereo shop or even best buy or circuit city and buy an adapeter if you haven' t one yet=0)

thanks for the respond and great information.

but the problem is, the cdplayer that im trying to install does not have a 'memory' wire. and the OEM does not have an acc. wire.

you can just buy a wiring harness and plug it into the factory harness? The harness should link all the wires and you do not have to worry about cutting and connecting the correct wires.

ok to make it clear again. Even im getting confused with what i am saying. haha.

here are the connections i've made other than the speakers

OEM -------------------------------------------------------CD player

ground(black)--------------------------------------------chassis ground(black)
+12v power (red)-----------------------------------------battery/constant +12v (yellow)
+12v memory (yellowground (black)------------------- ignition/switched +12v (red)
amp turn on (blue w/stripe)-----------------------------connected to amp
power antenna + (blue)----------------------------------not connected

Im guessing that, looking from the CD plyer point of view, that i need to switch the 'battery/constant' with the 'ignition/switched'
is this correct?

i have the harness because, i guess the cd player that is already there is an old after market that does not play burned cd's. So i cut the cd player from the harness. Then i tried to connect the 'newer' cd player onto the harness.

shouldn't it be the other way round?

reason I say that is because after you turn off the ignition, you still need to supply power for your cd player to keep the memory. hmmmm......... anyone can answer this?
